What a care provider does in your home

  • Companion care, including conversation, activities and supervision
  • Help with daily living needs such as eating and bathing
  • Support with daily tasks and household routines
  • Keeping the home environment safe during the shift
  • Scheduled relief for parents, guardians and family caregivers

What respite care is not

Respite is non-medical. Care providers do not administer medication, perform nursing tasks or provide medical treatment. If your family member needs skilled nursing, tell your service coordinator so the right vendor is authorized.
